Summer in Our Olive Grove: Looking Ahead to the Next Harvest

This summer we spent time in our family's olive grove in Granada, Spain, making sure that everything is going well before the next harvest season.
Walking among the trees during the summer holidays always fills us with excitement! In just a few weeks, we will begin harvesting the precious Lucio olives that will become our high-quality extra virgin olive oil.

The Work Never Stops
Many people think that the work in an olive grove is only about the harvest. The truth is, the work never stops. From the moment the previous harvest ends, our family continues to care for the trees every single day with a lot of dedication and mucho mimo — a Spanish expression that means with love, care, and dedication. The health of the trees throughout the year is what allows us to produce the purest, most flavorful olive oil.

What's Happening in the Olives Right Now?
At the end of the summer, the olives are growing and slowly filling with oil inside. If you look closely, you can already see the fruit maturing on the branches. Very soon, as autumn approaches, the olives will begin to change color, from intense green to a lighter yellow-green. This transformation is nature's sign that the harvest is near, and it's almost time to begin picking.
